Intel Drops Link With Japanese Firm: The Santa Clara-based company will no longer resell dynamic random-access memory chips, or DRAMs, made by NMB Semiconductor. Prices have fluctuated so wildly that the companies had trouble agreeing on a price. Intel does not make DRAMs. It buys them for its computers and resells some. The company said it is not looking for additional sources of DRAMs because the market is still volatile. While the agreement announced in January, 1990, has ended, Intel said it still wants to take advantage of NMB’s manufacturing strengths. It will use NMB’s extra capacity for its new type of “flash” memory chips.
