COLLEGE ROUNDUP : UC Irvine Freshman Golfer Wins 18-Team Tournament
UC Irvine freshman William Yanigasawa shot a three-under-par 69 to win the Grand Canyon University Golf Tournament Tuesday in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
Yanigasawa finished the three-day, 18-team tournament with a seven-under 209. Abilene Christian won with a team score of 864 and Irvine was second with 870.
In nonconference baseball:
Cal State Fullerton 17, University of San Diego 0--Frank Herman had four hits and scored four runs and Frank Charles had three hits, including a home run, and drove in four for Fullerton (21-15).
Cal State Dominguez Hills 12, Christ College Irvine 4--Willie Navarette, a senior from Rancho Santiago, allowed four hits and struck out five in the first six innings for host Dominguez Hills.
UC Irvine 7, U.S. International 0--Al Rodriguez had three hits and an RBI for host UC Irvine (18-20). Chris Huber (5-4) allowed three hits and struck out eight for the Anteaters.
In Golden State Athletic Conference softball:
Christ College Irvine 3-2, California Baptist 0-0--Michelle Vail pitched a one-hitter in the first game.
