Won’t Be Displaced, Molina Tells Residents

About 200 Bassett residents got a tacit guarantee this week that the county won’t build a hospital where their homes now stand, but they failed to get their area removed from a list of possible sites.

Supervisor Gloria Molina, who represents Bassett, promised the residents at a Board of Supervisors meeting that “you will not be displaced from your homes” when the county builds the hospital in the San Gabriel Valley. “But at the same time,” she said, “I think that by beginning the process of creating and eliminating every single option because someone comes here, we make a drastic mistake in analyzing what we need to do.” Molina said she wanted to work with residents in choosing a site.
