Carl Karcher Enterprises Inc.: The Anaheim-based parent of Carl’s Jr. restaurants said fourth-quarter net income was $617,000, contrasted with an $8.9-million net loss a year ago. Revenue rose fractionally to $118.8 million. Full-year net income climbed 132% to $13 million, while revenue rose 2% to $521.8 million. Year-ago figures included a fourth-quarter reserve of $14.5 million for the restructuring of the company’s Arizona operations. The firm said results for the latest year were affected by the recession, continued intense competitive discounting in the chain’s core California market and consumer concern over the Mideast crisis.
