Suspect Slain After High-Speed Pursuit
A couple suspected of stealing money from a San Gabriel restaurant Friday morning led police on an 80 m.p.h. chase before the driver was fatally shot by an officer, authorities said.
Annette Prince, 27, allegedly scooped $117 out of a cash register at a Norm’s Restaurant on Valley Boulevard and ran to a pickup truck driven by her companion, San Gabriel Police Lt. Jim Goodman said. Officers saw the truck speeding north on Del Mar Boulevard and chased it for four miles until it crashed into a tree near San Marino.
When it appeared the suspect might try to run police over, Goodman said, an officer fired a shot, fatally wounding the driver. He died later at a nearby hospital.
