Fungus on Rosebushes Requires Treatment

Share

Q: The roses outside my Pacific Palisades home are a real disappointment. Many leaves are turning yellow and the undersides are covered with an orange powder. It’s so bad that the ground beneath the bushes is turning orange. What should I do?

A: Rose rust, a fungus that erupts in moist conditions, is one of the worst rose problems in your area. Remove all diseased leaves from the plant, even those with small orange pustules. Don’t worry--the bush will make new leaves. Clean up under the bushes, and spray with Funginex.
