Looks : DOUBLE DUTY

Never has the idea that less is more made so much sense. At least that’s the theory behind one of the latest developments in cosmetics: multi-function products that allow women to buy and carry less makeup--without sacrificing a finished look.

Take Clinique’s Colour Rub Allover Lustre, whose appeal is flexibility. Designed as an eye shadow, blusher and lip color, the oil-free liquid had been phased out but was brought back because of consumer demand.

Other items intended to save time and cut the clutter include L’Oreal’s Hydra Perfecte, a combination moisturizer-foundation available in six matte shades. Just Blush! powder, by Estee Lauder, comes in four soft hues that can be worn on lids and cheeks. Charles of the Ritz Powders a la Carte, in six sheer colors, does triple duty on eyes, cheeks and lips. And Gale Hayman Beverly Hills offers Monochrome Shadow/ Liner that comes with a tiny brush and a sponge-tip applicator so that it can be stroked on wet, as liner, or dry, as shadow.
