Bert Launspach; Security Company President

Bert Launspach, president of Douglas Roesch Communications Inc. in Los Angeles, has died in South Carolina. He was 78.

A longtime Glendale resident, Launspach died Wednesday of a heart attack, said his wife, Arlene Launspach.

Born in Des Moines, Iowa, Launspach graduated from Iowa State University of Science & Technology in Ames, and came to California in the late 1940s. After owning an electronics company, Launspach and Roland Roesch in 1960 bought Douglas Roesch Communications Inc., an engineering company that designs and installs security systems for commercial buildings. The firm’s clients include the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and the Gene Autry Museum. Launspach served as company president until his death.

He was a member of Rotary Club of Los Angeles, the Jonathan Club in Los Angeles and Annandale Golf Club in Pasadena.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years; daughters Patricia Lang and Michele Boone, both of Glendale; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. today at the Church of the Recessional, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 1712 S. Glendale Ave., in Glendale. Forest Lawn Mortuary, Glendale, is handling the arrangements. Donations can be made in Launspach’s name to the Crippled Children’s Society in Los Angeles.
