Ghostly Attraction: Thais, who have strong beliefs in the supernatural, have made “Ghost” the highest-grossing Western film ever shown in Thailand, it was reported Wednesday. During its initial 14-week run, from Nov. 24 until Feb. 27, more than 500,000 people saw the movie that stars Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. Continued demand for the movie, billed as “the motion picture that has touched the heart of Thailand,” brought it back for another run April 6. “It’s popular because many people in Thailand believe in ghosts,” said a business executive who has seen “Ghost” twice. “It’s like the Buddhist teaching that says, ‘If you do bad, you will get bad in return.’ ”
