SUVA, Fiji —
This South Pacific island nation will contribute 110 soldiers to the U.N. observer force to be deployed along the Iraqi-Kuwaiti border following an official request from the world body, the government said Wednesday.
The troops will be sent from a 700-strong Fiji Military Forces battalion currently with the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon, the government said.
An advance party of eight Fijian army officers is expected to leave the South Pacific island nation this weekend to join the 30-nation force.
