Two boys driving a stolen Jeep led sheriff’s deputies on a chase from Malibu to South-Central Los Angeles early Thursday and collided with a van, ramming it into a train, authorities said.

Two boys ages 15 and 16 were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grand theft, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and auto theft after the 1:50 a.m. crash near 55th and Alameda streets, Sgt. Frank Kasko said.

A 15-year-old boy being questioned during an auto theft arrest told a deputy that he was in one of three autos stolen by a group of friends, Kasko said. During the questioning, the boy pointed out a passing Jeep as one of the stolen vehicles. The deputy left the boy with another deputy and chased the Jeep, with the chase reaching speeds of 85 m.p.h. over half an hour, Kasko said.
