Four violent incidents were reported at the 21st annual Chicano Park celebration Saturday, San Diego police said.

The celebration is held in observance of the Latino community uprising in 1970 that halted construction of a California Highway Patrol building under the ramps of the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge and led to establishment of a park there in the 2000 block of National Avenue.

This year, police were called to the all-day celebration after three knife attacks and another assault with a broken bottle.

Sgt. Mike Gibbs said that none of the victims was seriously injured.

Investigation of the incidents is being handled by the police gang detail, he said.
