PLATFORM : Music Matters, Too

I’m not totally disturbed right now because I want to do a good job and I don’t want to let the (layoff notice) get in the way. However, it has dampened me a little bit. It has made me feel “Well, why plan?”

I’m not married and I don’t have a house, so that kind of helps.

I’ve put over $2,000 out my own pocket--which some people might think is stupid--so I can teach some of the courses I want to teach. I don’t see a refund coming back on that. But if you do something for other people, you’re really helping yourself. I’m learning as I teach, also.

Here’s the main thing that bothers me. My subject is music. Music is a non-priority subject, and they just don’t know how valuable music really is or can be. I wouldn’t have finished school had it not been for music. I looked forward to going to school every day, just to play in the band, and that helped me to do better in other classes. That was the biggest turnaround in my life.
