IMF to Oppose U.S. Interest Rate Plan: The International Monetary Fund is set to side with Germany against an American call to lower world interest rates to spur economic growth. A senior IMF official said cutting interest rates could bring on inflation. The United States is expected to take its campaign for lower interest rates to the semi-annual meeting of the IMF and World Bank that starts in Washington this week.
