About 100 environmental activists rallied on Capitol Hill to urge Congress to put the brakes on logging in national forests. Speakers at the Earth Day eve gathering endorsed legislation to halt clear-cutting on federal lands. The protesters said Forest Service lands are being turned into tree plantations for industry.
