WASHINGTON : The Money Men Meet

Share

Finance ministers and central bankers from the United States and its major economic allies meet in the U.S. capital Saturday for their annual spring review of the world economy.

The so-called Group of Seven is expected to weigh prospects for recovery in the United States, the outlook for Europe, Japan, interest rates and the dollar, and the rapidly deteriorating situation in the Soviet Union.

The United States may press for the World Bank to shift toward lending to the private sector in developing countries--a step Washington sees as in keeping with privatization programs in those nations.
