Bieniemy’s Attorney to Post Bond

Richard Myers, the Denver-based attorney for Chargers’ running back Eric Bieniemy, said he will post a $1,000 bond with authorities in Colorado to satisfy a bench warrant for his client’s arrest.

Bieniemy, the team’s second-round draft choice, failed to appear in Garfield Associate County Court to answer charges of speeding and driving with a suspended license.

“There was a miscommunication between Eric and myself,” Myers said. “I’ll seek a pretrial hearing and then we’ll appear and try to dispose of the matter.”

Myers said Bieniemy’s problems in Garfield County may impact the deferred judgment Bieniemy received last year for interfering with a firefighter. “It’s something we’ll have to speak to them about,” he said.

He also said that Bieniemy was “confused” when he said Monday that he did not have to attend an eight-hour firefighting session to satisfy the deferred judgment he received after pleading no contest to interfering with a firefighter.

“At this point that is unfulfilled; I believe it’s mandatory,” Myers said. “That was part of the deal . . . We have until May 26 to iron it out.”

Bieniemy has been ticketed by the police at least four times in the past two years and faces a May 1 pretrial conference for charges for leaving the scene of an accident.
