Nine South Bay students will be among 32 Los Angeles County high school seniors participating in the final regional event of Bank of America’s 1991 Achievement Awards competition. They will compete at the Sheraton Townhouse in Los Angeles for the chance to win one of four $2,000 first-place awards. Second- and third-place winners receive $1,500 and $1,000 respectively. The remaining finalists receive $500 each.

Applied Arts: Corrine Cuyler, Miraleste, Rancho Palos Verdes; Trudy Liu, Narbonne, Torrance; Martha Lopez, Gardena High, Gardena; Harriet Park, West, Torrance.
Fine Arts: Kathy Sorge, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates.
Liberal Arts: Yealan Chiang, Narbonne, Torrance; Jinoos Yazdany, West, Torrance.
Science and Mathematics: Carolyn Griffith, Torrance High, Torrance; Kara Hatfield, Westchester High, Westchester; Lisa Kurahashi, Redondo Union, Redondo Beach.
