Kodak, Lotus Strike Software Deal: Eastman Kodak Co. and Lotus Development Corp. have agreed to incorporate Kodak’s electronic image-processing technology into Lotus Notes, an advanced software system for electronic messaging. The companies next year will release an add-on product for Notes that will allow the program to handle any kind of document, including pictures, charts or faxes. The deal is a potentially important part of Kodak’s effort to secure a strong position in the emerging market for computer systems and software that handle images along with text. Analysts have praised Notes as a potentially important new type of business software.
