FIFA, soccer’s governing body, officially imposed a worldwide ban on Diego Maradona after his suspension by the Italian league for a positive drug test.
FIFA said its member associations will bar the Argentine star until June 30, 1992. The Italian league suspended Maradona for 15 months April 6 for testing positive for cocaine. Buenos Aires police arrested Maradona Friday night on charges of cocaine possession.
