Share

City officials have been informed that Lynwood has been selected as a finalist by the National Civic League for its 1991 All-America City Award.

Lynwood is one of three California cities among 30 nationwide selected as finalists by the Denver-based organization. The other two are Modesto and Duarte. A 16-member screening committee reviewed 97 applications before selecting the finalists.

Lynwood’s application addressed how the city dealt with its gang and graffiti problems, including the formation of a Youth Commission and the gang-prevention work of the Sheriff’s Athletic League.
