Two Killed as Twisters Touch Down in Illinois
Tornadoes damaged homes Sunday in northeastern Illinois and toppled a tree onto a car, killing two people and injuring two others, police said.
The deaths and injuries occurred in the Chicago suburb of Western Springs when a tree fell on a car, a police spokesman said. The injured were taken by helicopter to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, he said.
One tornado touched down outside Elgin, in an area called Lily Lake, about 35 miles west of Chicago, damaging some homes, officials said. Other touchdowns were reported in Lake, Cook and Kane counties, with no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
