California : IN BRIEF : PITTSBURG : Six Men Injured in Poison Gas Release

Two men were hospitalized and four others were treated after hundreds of pounds of poisonous gas were released in a malfunction at a Dow Chemical Co. plant, the company said. Forty pounds of chlorine gas and 880 pounds of carbon tetrachloride gas were released, said company spokeswoman Sarah Prince. The section of the plant where the malfunction occurred will remain closed until an investigation is completed, she said.
