Vachon Interested in Reuniting Kurri With Gretzky, but Not at Any Price

Wayne Gretzky and Jari Kurri were a dream team in Edmonton, but some say it’s only a pipe dream to think they will ever be reunited with the Kings.
Nevertheless, General Manager Rogie Vachon is actively pursuing Kurri, who wants to know where he will be playing by the end of the month.
“We’re definitely interested, depending on the price we have to pay,” Vachon said.
After a decade with Edmonton, Kurri, who turns 31 in 10 days, spent this past season playing in Italy.
He has expressed an interest in returning to the NHL, but insists he will stay in Europe if the Oilers, who retain his rights, can’t work out a deal by June.
But even if the Kings were willing to meet Edmonton’s demands, would the Oilers, after all the heat they took for trading Gretzky to the Kings, give him back his right wing?
“It’s a little bit of a longshot,” Vachon conceded. “People say they are willing to send (Kurri) anywhere but L.A.”
