A Danish Museum: The home of Danish author Karen Blixen--better known as Isak Dinesen, author of “Out of Africa” and other works--opened as a museum Tuesday in Rungsted, Denmark, an old fishing harbor that has turned into a fashionable residential area. Rungstedlund, the two-wing, white-brick house where Blixen was born in 1885, had been closed to the public since she died there in 1962 at the age of 77. However, after the Meryl Streep-Robert Redford film “Out of Africa” won an Oscar for best picture in 1985, sales of Blixen’s books took off. The royalties enabled the Rungstedlund Foundation, which she founded in 1958, to open the museum. Except for fresh paint and discreet burglar alarms, Blixen’s rooms in the main building have remained almost unchanged since her death.
