Memorial Sunday for Auto Dealer Thomas Watts

A memorial service will be held Sunday for Thomas C. Watts Jr., the longtime owner of Downey Toyota.

Watts, 67, who had abdominal cancer, died last Saturday morning at his Fullerton residence, said his son, Richard C. Watts.

The memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. in the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove.

Born in Poland, Ohio, Watts opened his first auto dealership in 1946. He established his Toyota dealership in Downey in 1965. Watts was a member of the Downey Optimist Club, a Scottish rite mason, a Shriner and a member of the Downey YMCA ,rboard of directors.

Watts is survived by four children: Thomas C. Watts III of Yorba Linda, Richard Watts of Fullerton, Patricia A. Holme of Ft. Mojave, Ariz., and Grant W. Watts of Fullerton. He also is survived by six grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the Watts family requests that donations be sent to the Thomas C. Watts Jr. Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 3444, Fullerton 92634. The fund will be used to aid local families with a member who is suffering from a terminal illness, Richard Watts said.
