Blue Marble Denied Permit

COSTA MESA — The Planning Commission has denied a request for an entertainment permit for the Blue Marble Coffeehouse, a new venture that had planned to offer poetry readings, theatrical skits and live music.
The application was rejected because the Harbor Boulevard coffeehouse offers insufficient parking space, assistant city planner Steven C. Clarke said. Blue Marble owners have until Monday at 5 p.m. to appeal the decision to the City Council, Clarke said. Blue Marble operators may also be permitted to share nearby parking spots with another property owner and reapply for the permit, he said.
Owners of the Blue Marble did not return The Times’ phone calls.
