USC is seeded first and UCLA second in the 107th NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships, which begin today at the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga.

The Trojans (26-2), Bruins (26-3) and Pepperdine (20-2) have first-round byes and will open play Saturday. USC will face the winner of today’s Notre Dame-Kansas match, UCLA the New Mexico-Mississippi State winner. Pepperdine will meet California.

USC has won 12 championships, second only to UCLA’s 15, but none since the dual-match format was adopted in 1977. The Trojans have reached the semifinals eight times in the past 14 years but have never advanced to the finals during that span.
