Who Says There Are Hard Times Today?

The Business section is daily filled with stories of firms going bankrupt and our current inflation changing to deflation. There are places in Los Angeles where the facts say otherwise.

Yesterday, my wife and I went to Century Plaza to see the film “Spartacus.” The tickets cost $7.50 each. We both had a medium-size box of popcorn (the small size was impossibly small) for $2.50 per box, plus 20 cents for butter topping, plus 24 cents tax for a total of $5.88.

When the movie was over, we walked down to the D-level parking lot, since the escalators were not working, and paid a $13.25 parking fee. Total cost for an afternoon at the moves: $34.13. The theater was filled.
