SANTA ANA : College Trustees OK New Meeting Time

Share

Trustees of the Rancho Santiago Community College District have once again decided to change the time of their bimonthly board meetings.

Meetings, which had previously begun at 4 p.m., will now start at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of the month, effective June 1.

This is the third time in the past 12 months that the board has approved a change in meeting times and days.

Because the meetings are often lengthy, trustees Michael Ortell and Charles W. (Pete) Maddox voted against the change.

“If we start them at 6, it would be 10:30 right now,” said an exasperated Ortell while discussing the issue during last week’s board meeting, which lasted more than six hours.

“Our shortest meeting since I’ve been on the board has been 4 1/2 hours,” Maddox said.

But most of the board favored the change. “I think 6 is an appropriate time so members of the public can comment on the business of the district,” said Trustee Rodolfo Montejano.
