Johnny Come Lately: “Heerrrrre’s Johnny” will soon be heard throughout the land five minutes later. NBC this fall will start “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson” at 11:35 p.m. and not 11:30 p.m. The extra five minutes will provide NBC affiliates with additional revenue, allowing them to expand late-night local newscasts and sell three additional commercials. In the past Carson has blocked efforts to change his show’s start time. Still the king of the late-night scene, Carson recently signed a one-year contract extension for a 30th season, but said this will be his last year.
