VIDEO RENTALS : ‘Ghost’ Keeps a Solid Grip on Top Spot

Share

Give up the “Ghost”? Not video renters. The Patrick Swayze-Demi Moore-Whoopi Goldberg romantic chiller maintains its unearthly hold on the top spot of Billboard magazine’s video rentals chart. Steven Seagal’s “Marked for Death” keeps kicking at No. 2, while the surprising “The Bonfire of the Vanities” moves from No. 5 to No. 3. “Rocky V” may have peaked, falling from No. 6 to No. 8 after only three weeks in the stores. Ditto for the Kirstie Alley vehicle “Sibling Rivalry,” falling to No. 15 from No. 10 in its fifth week, and the Susan Sarandon-James Spader sizzler “White Palace,” to No. 20 from No. 14 also in its fifth week.

* Looks like it’s Tom Selleck week at the video stores. Not only does he have the top newcomer at No. 6 with his (and Steve Guttenberg’s and Ted Danson’s) hit “Three Men” sequel ($71 million at the box office, according to Entertainment Data Inc.), but the lesser Selleck adventure “Quigley Down Under” ($21 million) is a hot No. 11.
