Guide to ‘Green’ Shopping
Seeking to help shoppers separate recycling fact from fiction and identify recycled products, the nonprofit Californians Against Waste Foundation on Wednesday unveiled a first-of-its-kind listing of more than 250 brand-name recycled-content products available to California consumers and where they can be purchased.
Most products in the “Shopper’s Guide to Recycled Products” are everyday items that can be found in neighborhood markets and chain stores. Most cereal boxes, aluminum cans and glass bottles have recycled content, for example. There are also items not commonly associated with recycled products, including a stain-resistant carpeting made from recycled plastic soft-drink bottles that are crushed and then spun into fibers.
