5 in Police Department to Become Supervisors
Five Glendale police officers will be promoted to supervisory positions within the department next week, Police Chief David J. Thompson has announced.
The vacancies occurred when Capt. Thomas M. Rutkoske, a 25-year veteran of the department, said he would take a disability retirement. Rutkoske, 48, injured his back when he fell during a city disaster-training exercise last October, Thompson said. He has been on a disability leave since that time.
To fill the opening, Lt. Mike Post, a 17-year veteran of the department, will be promoted to captain, overseeing the technical services division, Thompson said. Post has worked in a variety of assignments within the department and has supervised vice and narcotics investigations.
Sgt. Michael Rock, an employee for more than nine years, will become a lieutenant, commanding a patrol group. Sgt. Stephen Campbell, who began his career with the department as a cadet in 1972, will be promoted to lieutenant, overseeing juvenile investigations.
Officers Gary Montecuollo and Richard Young will be promoted to sergeants, serving as patrol supervisors.
The promotions will take effect Wednesday, Thompson said.
