Santa Monica : 4 to Intern in Congress
Four students at Santa Monica College have been chosen to participate in the newly established Dale Ride Internship Program.
The program, named for the late political science professor and father of the first American woman in space, Sally Ride, allows Santa Monica College students to work as summer interns in congressional offices in Washington.
“This is precisely the right way to memorialize Dale,” said his widow, Joyce Ride, a member of program’s founding board of directors who raised funds for the internships.
Students selected for the first internships are: Jose Sigala of Los Angeles, Christopher Whamond of Venice, Jennifer Leonard of Santa Monica and Anne Marie Leland of Malibu.
