TUSTIN : Council OKs 2 Laws Against Loitering

Share

The City Council this week unanimously approved two laws aimed at cutting back on youngsters loitering in the city’s southwest area.

The first ordinance, given final approval by the council on Monday, establishes an 11 p.m. curfew for anyone under 18 in the city. Under the new law, anyone under 18 may not loiter, wander, stroll or play in public areas, amusement or eating establishments, vacant lots or other unsupervised places between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The second law, given tentative approval by the council, defines loitering and makes it illegal for a person to stand, sit or lie in a public area so as to obstruct access after being warned by a law enforcement officer. The second law is scheduled for final approval by the council at its next meeting.
