Two-Party System of Government

With regard to Ronald Brown’s article, “Dump Dan? But He’s the Real GOP” (Commentary, May 15), I find it extremely refreshing to see in print what the Democratic leadership says its party is all about.
Yes, it is true that Quayle represents the GOP. As a proud member of that party, I back him 100%. He has served as a representative, as a senator and now as vice president.
In 1988, Quayle was part of the ticket that opposed Michael Dukakis. Dukakis has never been a member of Congress. As governor of Massachusetts, Dukakis single-handedly succeeded in running that state’s economy into the ground. Who then, I ask, seems more qualified to be President?
Now, for which ticket do you suppose Brown voted? I feel Brown is yet another reminder of how out of touch the Democratic leadership is with the majority of American people.
