Beilenson Lauded on Land Acquisition
The letter by Janice Rubenstein criticizing Rep. Anthony C. Beilenson (D-Los Angeles) for supporting the acquisition of open space in the Santa Monica Mountains certainly does not reflect the views of most residents of Encino and other adjacent communities.
When developers bulldoze our mountains and recreational areas, all of us suffer the consequences. Although the current budgetary crisis will result in less money being available for park purposes, it would be foolish to abandon all efforts to preserve the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. Rep. Beilenson should be commended for his leadership.
