Romantic Con Man Gets Life Sentence
A convicted con man who romanced and left an El Cajon woman in a desolate area to die was sentenced Friday to life in prison without possibility of parole.
Raymond Stone, 42, was also given a 17-year consecutive sentence in state prison for other theft convictions.
Stone was found guilty March 25 of first-degree murder in the March, 1989, death of Anita Dalfoss, 50, who disappeared after telling people she was going on a date with Nick Martinelli, an alias of Stone.
San Diego Superior Court Judge Herbert Exarhos imposed a $10,000 fine against Stone, which would be paid from his earnings in prison.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Kriston Anton urged Exarhos “to separate him from society as long as possible.”
Stone said nothing during his sentencing. He is already serving a separate nine-year sentence for bilking other women he met in bars.
He was also sentenced last year to five years in prison for his briefly escape from the El Cajon jail in Feb., 1990, in which he suffered back injuries when his rope made out of sheets broke.
