MISSION VIEJO : Council to Discuss Budget for 1991-92
Residents will have a chance tonight to comment on the city’s proposed $26.2-million budget for 1991-92.
Although spending for city services such as police and fire protection are expected to stay near their current levels under the proposed budget, about $6.4 million in capital improvements will be discussed by the City Council at tonight’s 7 p.m. session in council chambers.
The council will consider spending $2.7 million to improve city parks. Another $3.7 million is earmarked for public works programs such as building wheelchair ramps throughout the city and road improvements for heavily traveled Crown Valley Parkway.
The council will also look at a possible $500,000 expenditure for a commuter rail study that could lead to the establishment of a train station in Mission Viejo.
“It is very important that people attend,” said City Manager Fred Sorsabal, “because we’re talking about projects that will affect the city for a long time.”
The council is expected to vote on the budget late next month, Sorsabal said.
