The constant climb in Orange County land prices has stalled (D5), which doesn’t seem relevant to everyday life . . . until you consider that the cost of land typically is a third of the price of a home. . . . And in Orange County the cost of buying, grading and getting permits for a lot can easily run from $80,000 to $100,000. It’s one of the main reasons Orange County is one of the nation’s most expensive markets for houses.
