Beverly Hills : City Faces Water-Use Fine
The city of Beverly Hills will face another $45,000 in penalties for failing to meet the April water rationing target set by the Metropolitan Water District.
Although heavy rains helped the city meet its conservation goal in March, the excessive water usage last month was the second time since March that Beverly Hills has been penalized for missing its rationing mark. In February, MWD officials slapped the city with a $60,000 fine for exceeding its monthly allotment.
The penalties paid by the city to MWD could be returned by the water supplier if the city meets the agency’s overall conservation mark at the end of the year. However, out of 27 agencies supplied with water by MWD, only Beverly Hills and the district that supplies water to Topanga and Malibu missed their April target.
