A 16-year-old boy injured in a shooting earlier this week was in good condition at the Ventura County Medical Center on Friday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Emmet Kyle Walker of Ventura was shot Wednesday in his left arm and the left side of his stomach. The bullet lodged in his chest, Ventura police said.

Emmet and four other boys had driven to an apartment complex on Cambria Avenue to confront another teen-ager, apparently about a traffic accident.

Emmet’s group was later approached by a group of the teen-ager’s friends on bicycles and Emmet and one of the cyclists began fighting, police said. Emmet was shot twice with a .22-caliber derringer, they said.

Two 15-year-old Ventura boys, whose names were not released because they are juveniles, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the shooting and sent to the Ventura County Juvenile Hall. The shooting was not motivated by gang hostilities, police said.
