Countywide : Firm No Longer on Toxic Waste List
Orange County health officials said Friday that they have re-evaluated Speedy Circuits, a Huntington Beach manufacturing company, and removed it from a list of the county’s top producers of hazardous waste.
The circuit-board manufacturing plant recently installed a processing system that removes metals from its rinse water that “significantly reduced” the company’s creation of hazardous waste, said Robert E. Merryman, director of the county’s environmental health division.
The county agency reported last month that Speedy Circuits rated among the top 10 producers of toxic waste in Orange County. The ranking was based on the agency’s inspection reports, which are updated annually. But the inspectors had not been notified at the time of the company’s improvements, which neutralized much of the plant’s waste.
