The 46th annual Costa Mesa-Newport Harbor Lions Club Fish Fry takes place this weekend, with food, carnival rides and prizes.
The event is the club’s largest fund-raiser of the year. Volunteers staff the booths and most of the money raised is given to charitable organizations in the community, according to club leaders.
A parade will start the festivities at 9:30 a.m. today. The parade will begin on Harbor Boulevard at Wilson Street, travel south on Harbor to 19th Street, west to Anaheim Street and then south to Lions Park at 18th Street and Newport Boulevard.
In addition to fish dinners, the carnival will include entertainment, game booths, rides and prize drawings. The fish fry runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, and from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
