Henry E. Petersen; Watergate Investigator
Henry E. Petersen, 70, a retired career prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice who supervised the early Watergate investigation. Petersen spent his entire 27-year career with the department, rising from FBI agent to the organized crime section and eventually to chief of the criminal division. In addition to the Watergate case, which forced President Richard M. Nixon to resign, Petersen directed the corruption case against former Vice President Spiro T. Agnew. On Wednesday in Sunderland, Md., of emphysema.
