World AIDS Total Up by 7,000 During May

GENEVA —
The number of officially reported AIDS cases worldwide rose by more than 7,000 in May, bringing the total to 366,455 in 162 countries, the World Health Organization said Friday.
Registered cases of acquired immune deficiency syndrome in the United States rose to 174,893, up 3,017 from April. Europe reported 804 new cases, bringing its total to 52,106.
