Negotiations for a possible Evander Holyfield-Mike Tyson fight this fall apparently fell apart over a World Boxing Council ruling on the purse split.

The WBC, whose president, Jose Sulaiman, is an ally of Tyson promoter Don King, ordered a 60-40 purse split, after two other governing bodies, the International Boxing Federation and the World Boxing Assn., had agreed the heavyweight champion, Holyfield, should earn the traditional 75%, Tyson 25%.

King had sought a 55-45 split. Holyfield’s promoter, Dan Duva, said he would file suit against the WBC Monday, and also begin looking for another Holyfield opponent for October or November.
