Child Care Relief

Your recent series of articles on child care and the condition of children in California have been excellent portrayals of the current situation in Los Angeles (View, May 12-16). The situation is very similar to the one found by families in San Diego County. The crisis is real, and now we, the total community, must put our best efforts toward creating solutions.

Families that need assistance can look to two major organizations for help: the YMCA Child Care Resource Service, and the San Diego Child Care Coalition. Families looking for child care can call CRS, the state-funded resource and referral agency serving all of San Diego County, (619) 495-7070.

The San Diego Child Care Coalition disseminates information to employers on the benefits of and options for providing child care assistance for parent employees. Both employers and employees can obtain resources from the resource development specialist at (619) 495-7000.
