SLIPPED UP: Boat owners know how hard it can be to keep their craft in the water, but in this case smaller is better. . . . In Dana Point Harbor (B1), home to nearly 2,500 boats, the waiting list for a slip ranges from a month for small craft to five years or more for 55-footers. There are about a dozen small-boat slips vacant at Newport Harbor but a long waiting list for bigger boats. Small-boat owners can always store their boats on land, and, says a spokesman for California Recreation Co., which owns many Newport slips, “with the recession . . . people are selling their boats.”
